Welcome To GCF

This week in GCF (Feb. 24-28)

  • Monday evenning –  Women of GCF are invited to “Women’s Small Group” tonight at 7PM tonight. We meet near East Camps and are studying Judges, the book of “despicable people doing deplorable things”. Come learn how God’s plan is worked out in the world in spite of the unfaithfulness of his people. Email Stephanie Holmer for location details. Hope to see you there.
  • Wednesday Noon:  Lunchtime small group Bible study.  Noon till 1 in the chapel basement lounge.  We will be studying 1 Peter, a letter to churches under the stress of cultural rejection.  Sound familiar?
  • Thursday 4:00-5:00  Tea-ology – Tea/coffee/cider/hot chocolate plus cookies set the context for a weekly conversation about Theology.  We will be discussing the question, “What is the Gospel?” and anything else that comes up!  Come be with friends and enjoy the conversatioin.

Next Friday Night Large Group – Feb. 28

Dr. Dan Train will be our speaker.  Dr. Train is the post-doctoral Fellow in the Duke Initiative in Theology and the Arts.  He will speak on Beauty from a Christian perspective, and what all this might have to do with the formation of “desire” and what it means for Christians to be “persuasive.”

Graduate Christian Fellowship

Welcome to GCF’s home page.

Our hope is to be a community of support and encouragement for those who are seeking to bring together faith in Christ and a calling to the academy.  Come walk out this journey with us!  And if you are not a Christian, we welcome you to “check things out” in a safe and understanding circle of friends.

Large Group Meetings

This semester we’ll be meeting Feb. 28, March 21, April 4, April 25.  Mark your calendars!

We meet about every other Friday night for dinner followed by some great worship time and speaker.  These large group meetings usually take place in the Duke Chapel basement, unless otherwise notified.  The dinners are typically home-cooked and provided by volunteers in the Chapel basement kitchen.  If you can donate $5 to help pay for supplies, great, but come eat regardless and bring your friends and family — kids are welcome!

For more details on our large group meetings and other activities, check out the events page. A few summaries of past events can also be found in the blog.
